About
APVA ACADEMY

The African Podcast and Voice Academy (APVA Academy) is a flagship initiative of the Association of African Podcasters and Voice Artists. It is designed to equip African audio creatives with the knowledge, tools, and industry access needed to turn their craft into thriving businesses.

From idea to income, the Academy provides structured, locally relevant, and globally competitive learning experiences for podcasters, voice talents, and spoken word artists across the continent.

Why APVA

Here’s what sets APVA, and the APVA Academy apart:

Built for Africa, Backed by the World

We localize international learnings where necessary but we prioritse building homegrown resources and training designed for African realities, in African languages, using African examples. Then we scale it for global competitiveness.

A Track Record That Speaks for Itself

From the APVA Awards to Utukufu, our ecosystem has already impacted thousands across 140+ countries, spotlighting and elevating African voices like never before.

End-to-End Learning to Earning Pathways

Whether you’re starting out, launching a show, or scaling your studio—our tracks, coaching, and business incubators are designed to help you grow and monetize at every level.

Powered by Community, Led by Creators

We are creators ourselves. Our network of instructors, coaches, and alumni is built from the inside out—so we don’t just teach theory, we pass down lived experience.

Visibility. Viability. Voice.

Everything we do—from our repository to our shop, from our directory to our streaming platform—is built to make African audio creatives discoverable, credible, and commercially successful.

Integrated with the APVA Ecosystem

When you learn with us, you plug into a larger ecosystem:

  • APVA Match to find jobs and gigs
  • The Script Repository to sharpen your skills
  • APVA Awards & Utukufu to amplify your voice
  • The Community to collaborate, trade, and grow
Flexible, Accessible, Transformational

Learn your way. Self-paced or cohort-based. Virtual or hybrid. Coaching or community. We meet you where you are—and take you where you want to go.

Learning Formats

Choose how you grow.

At APVA Academy, we recognize that creatives learn differently. That’s why we offer multiple learning formats to suit your pace, schedule, and ambition.

1. Self-Paced Learning

Learn anytime, anywhere—on your own schedule.

You get instant access to course content, videos, and resources. Perfect for independent learners or those with unpredictable schedules.

Best for: Flexible learning, revisiting concepts, side-hustlers.

2. Cohort-Based Learning

Join a small group of learners progressing together with weekly check-ins, assignments, and live sessions.

You’ll benefit from peer feedback, accountability, and real-time discussions.

Best for: Structured learners, community builders, accountability seekers.

3. Batched Learning

Some Courses are released in timed cycles (monthly or quarterly).

Each batch has its own start and end date with scheduled live sessions, community access, and specific project goals.

Best for: Goal-oriented learners, professionals who like timelines.

4. Masterclasses

Short, high-impact sessions hosted by global experts and sector leaders.

Tightly focused on one theme, trend, or challenge—often in one session or a few short parts.

Best for: Professionals needing insight, creatives exploring new ideas.

5. Bootcamps

Intensive, hands-on training sessions that focus on mastering one skill or completing one creative deliverable.

Often delivered over 1–3 days or 1–2 weeks with real-time support and implementation.

Best for: Creatives seeking practical outcomes fast, such as launching a demo, recording a reel, or building a pitch deck.

6. Accelerators

Short-term, high-growth programs (6–8 weeks) designed to help creatives scale ready projects.

Includes business coaching, funding access, and exposure opportunities.

Best for: Mid-level creatives with a ready-to-execute concept or show.

7. Incubators

Longer-term support programs (3–6 months) for idea-stage creatives.

Includes skill-building, mentorship, production support, and starter funding.

Best for: Creatives with vision but needing structure and guidance to execute.

8. Expert Coaching

1-on-1 or small-group mentorship tailored to your specific growth goals.

Led by experienced practitioners in podcasting, VO, performance, or business.

Best for: Creatives seeking clarity, feedback, and actionable support.
