Welcome and Learning Outcomes (Video)

Welcome to the third and final course in our “Funding and Sponsorship” series. Having mastered how to build a compelling pitch deck and negotiate with confidence, it’s time to translate those discussions into a professional, persuasive, and winning proposal. This course is a deep dive into the art and science of proposal writing, specifically designed for African podcasters, voice artists, and spoken word performers. We will move beyond the initial pitch to construct detailed documents that outline your project’s value, scope, and budget, compelling potential sponsors, clients, and grantors to invest in your creative vision. This is where your big idea gets the structure it needs to become a funded reality.

Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this course, you will be able to:

  1. Understand the strategic role of a proposal and differentiate it from a pitch deck.
  2. Conduct targeted research to tailor each proposal to the specific needs of a sponsor, client, or grant-making body.
  3. Master the essential components of a professional proposal, including the executive summary, objectives, scope of work, and deliverables.
  4. Develop a clear, comprehensive, and justifiable budget and project timeline.
  5. Write persuasively, articulating your unique value proposition as an African audio creative.
  6. Design and format a visually appealing and professional proposal document.
  7. Implement a strategic follow-up process after submitting a proposal.
  8. Confidently create proposals for a variety of opportunities, from brand sponsorships to grant applications.
